What is green fly?

Green fly, also known as aphids, are small soft-bodied insects that feed on the sap of plants. They are usually green in color, but can also be yellow, brown or black. Green fly are common garden pests that can cause damage to plants by sucking out the nutrients from their leaves and stems. They reproduce rapidly and can infest a garden in large numbers. Natural predators of green fly include ladybirds, lacewings and hoverflies, but chemical pesticides can also be used to control populations. However, it is important to use pesticides carefully to avoid harming beneficial insects and the environment.
